Five athletes that influence professional sports are Nate Ebner of the New England Patriots, Michael Phelps, Alex Ovechkin of the Washington Capitals, and Tom Brady. Nate Ebner is defensive back for the New England Patriots. He is also the first Patriots player to compete in the Olympics. In addition to playing in the NFL, he also played for the U.S. Rugby team in Rio. Another influential player is Michael Phelps. He has won the most gold metals in Mens Swimming in the Olympics. He is the best swimmer of all time, and has inspired many others to swim. Alex Ovechkin is one of the best players in the NHL, and also played for Russia in the Winter Olympics in 2006, 2010, and 2014. Lastly, Tom Brady is the best quarterback of all time, and an inspiration to many kids, and adults.

What all of these athletes have in common is their advertisement. Companies and businesses pay athletes millions of dollars to advertise their products. Athletes are paid so much money because of marketing. Ebner was a figure for the U.S. Rugby team, and has been admired for following his dream of going to the Olympics, while playing in the NFL. Michael Phelps has appeared on many cereal boxes including Frosted Flakes and Cheerios. Sponsors like him bring in many more buyers for products. Alex Ovechkin is a sponsor for Bauer, which even sells a hockey stick named after him. Tom Brady is the greatest quarterback in the NFL, and advertises UGGs, UnderArmour, Mattresses.
